Disney Celebrates ‘Let the Memories Begin’ Across America with Virtual Photos
Have you heard? This summer, we’re making stops across America, Canada and Puerto Rico and magically transporting you to the most iconic Disney Parks landmarks through virtual photography.
You can captain a Jungle Cruise adventure, appear in front of Cinderella Castle and other fun Disney photo spots before making your own Disney vacation memories come true. For all the details, and to see if Disney will be visiting a town near you, check out www.LettheMemoriesBeginTour.com.
And if you are not able to meet up with us, you can still upload and create your own virtual in-park Disney photo memory from home. You can check it out now at www.LettheMemoriesBeginTour.com or at our new Spanish site, www.QueComiencenTusRecuerdostour.com.

Favorite Spots to Capture Your Memories at Disneyland Resort
posted at the Disney Parks blog on April 7th, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
Has a random stranger ever approached you at the parks offering a camera? I see this happen all the time. A guest is trying to capture a special memory with friends or family but he can’t get in the picture and take it, too. He might turn to another guest for help.
Did you know that cast members are always happy to step in and take your photo? I love it when I get this opportunity. The guests are so grateful, and they’re elated to know this special moment will now live on in a photo that includes their entire group.
The iconic locations in the parks are most popular. Everyone wants a photo at Sleeping Beauty Castle, for instance, because it’s such a beautiful symbol of Disneyland park.
Guests also pick some offbeat backgrounds for their photos, like a red popcorn cart on Main Street, U.S.A., or the new construction fences previewing the coming of Cars Land in 2012 at Disney California Adventure park.
A new photo location opened recently, right at the spot where guests will enter Cars Land along Route 66. You can step into a racing scene pit stop and pose with Mater or Lightning McQueen, stars of the Disney•Pixar film “Cars” and the upcoming “Cars 2.” Check out McQueen’s new racing fin. (I dare you to grin just as big as they do.)
I’d like to know your favorite places to take photos at the parks. Here are a few top spots, and I bet you’ll come up with some innovative locations.
- In front of City Hall at Disneyland park with the City Hall sign clearly in view.
- Floral Mickey, a lovely spot just as you enter Disneyland park (when you still look fresh).
- On the bridge at Disney California Adventure park with Mickey’s Fun Wheel as the backdrop.
- Along the river at New Orleans Square at Disneyland park.
- Next to the airplane near “Soarin’ over California” at Disney California Adventure park.
- In front of the big, blue Sorcerer’s cap in the Downtown Disney District.

Great Reviews for ‘The Magic, The Memories and You’
posted on February 2nd, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
“The Magic, The Memories and You” show debuted at Disneyland park last week and it has been getting great reviews. The nightly show transforms the “it’s a small world” attraction into a grand canvas of magical animation. The architecture shimmers before the entire exterior becomes a huge curtain that unveils a collage of guest photos and videos.
The show is designed to celebrate the memories that are made every day in Disney Parks. Guests who visited Disneyland park that day may find their Disney PhotoPass photograph has become part of the show.
The images dance to music and it all culminates in a spectacular finale with both animated and actual fireworks. It’s hard to capture the magic in a still photo, but here are a few of my favorites:
You can see “The Magic, The Memories and You” nightly at Disneyland park. Check www.disneyland.com for show times.
One exciting part is the dueling pirates, who battle with swords as the building appears to catch fire. If you’ve seen the show, what are some of your favorite moments?

Guest Images Come to Life at Disney Parks
posted in the Official Disney Parks Blog on January 20th, 2011 by Alan Bruun, Director of Let The Memories Begin Projections Project
When we announced, as a part of the Let The Memories Begin Campaign, that we would be projecting photographs and videos of our guests every night on Cinderella Castle in Florida and it’s a small world in California, many of my friends and colleagues responded with “Huh?” So I thought I would give you a clearer picture of what is going to be an amazing musical and visual spectacle this year.
Using high-power projection systems and digital mapping techniques that I don’t even begin to understand, the surfaces of these two beloved icons will be transformed through animation, photography and technical ingenuity. Using our guests’ photographs and videos as a starting point, and a WONDERFUL musical score as our guide, Let The Memories Begin will be a fanciful, imaginative, heart-warming and FUN look at the magical memories associated with a visit to Disney Parks. Here’s a look at what to expect.
Utilizing a crack team of artists, animators, and computer whizzes, the buildings themselves will be decorated, animated, renovated, and completely re-imagined as we take a journey through our guests’ Disney memories. The show celebrates our guests most magical experiences, from that first announcement of “We’re going to Disney!”, through all the fun, adventure, and family times, culminating with a spectacular finale involving thousands of photos, video, and fireworks. You literally will not believe your eyes!
The entire experience of seeing their own images, memories, and emotions made into the star of the show will provide a new and very special memory each night for our guests.
